If you are concerned about the appearance of termites in wood, here we are going to take a look at a remedy to eliminate termites. The remedy is to use boric acid. Boric acid is a chemical product that comes in white, powdered form, which will help you both with termites and to eliminate cockroaches and ants in the home.
What are termites?
The termites are white worm-like insects. They are also known as termes, turiros, termites, moths and also as white antsbecause of their resemblance to ants. Termites are also insects that agglutinate in colonies. Termites are necessary for nature and the environment as they decompose organic matter, in particular the organic matter of dead plants. The problem with termites is that they enter structures and walls undetected. Termites live by eating the cellulose that is in wood, so one of the favourite places to find termites is in wood.
Termites form nests and have a high reproductive capacity, therefore termites are in danger of creating a plague. At that moment termites are a problem, as they invade our space.
Unlike woodworm, termites make a small, grain-like hole in the wood with no exit on the other side. They also do not make any noise.
How to prepare boric acid to eliminate termites
Boric acid is a chemical that comes in the form of a white powder, either fine-grained or coarser grained. Termites are killed by the ingestion of boric acid. Therefore, if you have termites located in a certain area or an enclosed space, sprinkle boric acid by the area where the termites are.
If termites are distributed throughout the wood, apply boric acid to the wood in the following steps:
- Prepare a solution of boric acid and propylene glycol. Propylene glycol is a liquid that can be found in pool shops or drugstores. The ratio of propylene glycol to boric acid to be applied is 1:1 to 8:1.
- With the help of a brush or a vaporiser, apply the solution you have prepared. Apply the solution to the whole area affected by termites and also to nearby areas. It is necessary that the solution goes through the wood and reaches the termites, it must be applied deeply and wetting well all the surface where there may be termites.
- Let the solution act and you will see how in a few hours the dreaded termites will disappear.
Once the boric acid has been removed, dry the wood thoroughly and varnish it to protect the wood from future termite attacks and infestations.Boric acid
