Sodium bicarbonate, also known as sodium bicarbonate or food bicarbonate, is a white crystalline powder, odourless. It is a salt with an alkaline character, which gives it the multiple applications of sodium bicarbonate: it is the most widely used antacid, it is widely used in baking because it generates CO2 when combined with an acid. At a domestic level, it is also used to eliminate odours and to clean silver.
