The Copper Sulphate or cupric sulphate is a chemical compound with the formula CuSO4. It can be presented in 2 main forms: as copper (II) sulphate pentahydrate and as copper (I) sulphate, (also called cuprous sulphate or copper sulphate), depending on the oxidation state of the copper atom.
The most common commercially available is the Copper (II) Sulphate Pentahydrate, used as a fungicide to kill fungi, as a cleaner of algae in swimming pools, and as a supplement in animal feed.
USES COPPER SULPHATE
These are the main uses. By clicking on each of the points you can see more details of each application of copper sulphate..:
Fungicide - It is used as a fungicide thanks to its disinfectant action (eliminates micro-organisms). It prevents and cures the development of a certain group of fungi that attack plants and can cause their death or loss of harvest. Sometimes it is used as a fungicide within the bouillon bordelaise.
Algaecide for swimming pools - Water that is stored, either in a swimming pool during the winter, or in reservoirs or open-air tanks, is an ideal medium for the appearance of algae, and must be eliminated. It is a very effective algaecide for the preparation of swimming pools.
Animal Feed Supplement - Copper deficiency in animals can cause a multitude of problems in animals. It is therefore an important additive in animal feed.

I remember as a child, back in the 50s and 60s, a condition in the corner of the mouth, commonly known as cold sores, caused by I don't know what fungus, which the children caught from one another, sharing glasses or simply drinking water from the same tap. The home remedy in those days was to put a blue copper sulphate stone on the affected area and it healed well.
Be careful not to ingest!
